Constance Silver

Constance Silver

After receiving a BS and an MSW from the NYU School of Social Work, Constance Silver was certified in psychoanalysis, worked in private practice, obtained a PhD, and taught at the School as an adjunct faculty member. She is currently an NYU trustee. She and her husband, Martin, both NYU graduates, recently pledged $50 million to the School. In honor of their support, the School was renamed the NYU Silver School of Social Work in 2007.

Jane Eisner Bram

Jane Bram

“I am most grateful to NYU School of Social Work, which changed my life and, afforded me the opportunity to do what I always dreamed of doing.”

Jane Eisner Bram, a Silver School of Social Work alumna and a New York University trustee, graduated from NYU’s undergraduate program with a dual degree in psychology and sociology. She returned in 1977, after her three children were teenagers, for her MSW. After graduating, she started a successful private practice, where she treated individuals and couples in psychotherapy. She returned to the School of Social Work a third time in 2000 to earn a PhD.

Ruth Ackerman, MSW ’13

Ruth Ackerman

Ruth Ackerman is set to graduate in May with aspirations to work with autistic children. Her road to the NYU Silver School of Social Work began when she briefly majored in fashion design, but she ultimately decided fashion was not for her. After graduating from Hunter College, she volunteered in a Hunter lab working on early intervention and play therapy for autistic children.

When Roopa Raman was exploring master of social work programs, she prioritized a few factors: a high-quality, clinical education; professors with whom she could see herself working; a city where she could receive excellent training; and scholarship funds.
