Constance Silver

Constance Silver

BS ‘78, MSW ‘79

After receiving a BS and an MSW from the NYU School of Social Work, Constance Silver was certified in psychoanalysis, worked in private practice, obtained a PhD, and taught at the School as an adjunct faculty member. She is currently an NYU trustee. She and her husband, Martin, both NYU graduates, recently pledged $50 million to the School, enabling it to strengthen its focus on research-based clinical practice, examine poverty’s causes and solutions, and provide financial aid to a more diverse group of students. In honor of their support, the School was renamed the NYU Silver School of Social Work (SSSW) in 2007.

Jane Eisner Bram

MSW ‘79, PhD ‘00

“I am most grateful to NYU School of Social Work, which changed my life and, afforded me the opportunity to do what I always dreamed of doing.”

Jane Eisner Bram, a Silver School of Social Work alumna and a New York University trustee, graduated from NYU’s undergraduate program with a dual degree in psychology and sociology. She returned in 1977, after her three children were teenagers, for her MSW.

Education is critical to an individual and a community's success. However, if children are not available to learn due to emotional, psychological, or environmental problems they will not succeed. Social workers play a pivotal role in both defining those barriers and intervening to eliminate them to enable a child to learn.

Judy Tobias Davis

Judy Tobias Davis, a leading light of NYU’s Silver School of Social Work and an honoree at the School’s Fiftieth Anniversary, made a major contribution to the School through the NYU Charitable Gift Annuity. Her gift reflects a long involvement with the School—and an appreciation of the unique financial advantages of charitable gifts that pay income back to the donor.

Deenie Brosens

Deenie Brosens has always been a volunteer for people in need. While raising her four children in New York City, she and her husband generously gave to nonprofit organizations supporting underserved and at-risk youth.

But she felt compelled to deeper action, and so when her youngest child was in middle school, she enrolled in the NYU Silver School of Social Work.
