NYU-ECNU Shanghai Dual PhD Degree Program

NYU Silver and East China Normal University jointly administer a dual‐degree PhD program where students study in both New York City and Shanghai. Applicants must receive admission at both schools in order to be considered dual‐degree students. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be issued a PhD in Social Work from NYU and an ECNU PhD Degree from the School of Social Development.

Dual PhD students must successfully complete all degree requirements of both NYU Silver and ECNU. NYU’s current requirements are listed here. Additionally, PhD students must take at least three required courses from ECNU in one of the substantive areas of expertise (Sociology, Demography, Anthropology, Folklore Science, and Social Work).
