Passport and Visa Information

PASSPORTS NEEDED FOR SILVER COURSES OUTSIDE THE U.S.

All students seriously interested in participating in a global program outside the U.S. should have or acquire a valid passport. In some cases, international students will need a visa to travel to one of our program locations.

If you have questions about passports or visas, please contact the Office of Global Services (OGS) early, as both of these processes can take some time.

VISA GUIDE FOR ALL CITIZENS

Generally, U.S. Citizens do not need a visa when traveling on an NYU short-term study abroad course, with the exception of travel to China. However, because immigration policies can change, NYU's Office of Global Services (OGS) provides support to NYU students traveling on short-term study abroad courses. Non-U.S. Citizens will have different visa requirements. NYU Silver will work with students and OGS to provide all pertinent visa information to students.

A resource for visa information is Visa Guide: https://visaguide.world/  We recommend students use this site to become aware of their visa needs while considering study abroad courses for the year.
