Application & Deadlines

The application for all MSW degree programs consists of:

  • The completed online application
  • A statement of purpose
  • Transcripts from all college and universities attended
  • Three letters of reference
  • Resume

Please note that the application requirements for some degree programs may require additional items. A $60 nonrefundable application fee must accompany the completed application and is not credited toward tuition. Please see our policy regarding application fee waivers on our FAQ page.

We encourage you to upload your transcripts with your application; but, if you can't, official transcripts may be mailed or dropped off at:

Non-Matriculating Student Option:

An exploratory option for people interested in the field of social work but who have not been admitted to the MSW degree program; people who are returning to school after an extended absence; people trying out classes at NYU Silver; and people looking to hone their skills. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited undergraduate school.

The application for the non-matriculating student option consists of:

  • The completed online application
  • Official transcript confirming receipt of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • One letter of reference
  • Resume

A $60 nonrefundable application fee must accompany the completed application and is not credited toward tuition. Non-matriculating applicants are not eligible for University, state, or federal financial aid and limited scholarship.
