The mission of the Silver School of Social Work Office for Research (OFR) is to support faculty in the conduct of both basic and applied research to promote the ideals of a humane and just world, to enhance the vitality and caring capacity of communities, and to alleviate human suffering. The Silver School of Social Work embraces global and interdisciplinary perspectives as translated into significant and ground-breaking research encompassing multiple levels of analysis.


The goals of the OFR are (1) to facilitate the conduct of research by SSSW faculty, (2) to foster skill development for faculty relevant to their research, and (3) to help disseminate the findings and new knowledge resulting from the important and impactful scientific research conducted by Silver School of Social Work faculty.

NYU Silver Research Centers and Institutes

The OFR supports research efforts at the four major centers/institutes housed within the School, including the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research, the Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health, the Center for Violence and Recovery, and the NYU-ECNU Joint Institute for Social Development at NYU Shanghai.
