Silver School Field Placement Featured on NPR

September 21, 2015

Did you know that NYU Silver students provide 600,000 hours of service to poverty-impacted communities each year?

Since 2012, the Silver School of Social Work has assigned students to field placements at Mott Haven Academy (partnered with New York Foundling) in the Bronx where one-third of students live in foster-care, and nearly all students (91%) qualify for free or reduced lunch. Social workers at Haven Academy are assisted by one student intern, and strive to make kids feel safe enough to learn. National Public Radio recently profiled the extraordinary work of Haven Academy’s social workers, to hear the full story click here.
