Biography

Sandy Speier earned her MSW from Adelphi University, and has worked in a range of academic, field, and management positions throughout her impressive career. In 2006 she "retired" from her position as associate director of social work and coordinator of student education at New York State Psychiatric Institute to start a new chapter in her career at NYU as clinical associate professor in the Department of Field Learning and Community Partnerships.

Professor Speier has been teaching at the Silver School of Social Work since 2002.  In addition, she is the course convener for the Seminar In Field Instruction (SIFI). In this capacity, she hopes to further enhance the field education of social work interns.

Ms. Speier describes her work with interns as one of the most meaningful parts of her professional life - having the opportunity to teach, train, and mentor future professionals.
