Each school year, the Office of Student and Alumni Affairs offers a range of career and professional development events. Please see below for the regular events that are offered each year. Alumni Career Panels Series

Explore careers in social work and get to know NYU Silver alumni with the Alumni Career Panel Series. Once a month, we will explore a new topic or career path. Panels are open to students of all levels, alumni, and friends of NYU Silver.

I Wish I Knew Then What I Know Now Thursday, October 20, 2016 1 Washington Square North, Parlor Join us as we hear from alumni who will share lessons they learned during their time at the Silver School. Refreshments will be provided.
Working in Health and Mental Health Settings Wednesday, November 9, 2016 1 Washington Square North, Parlor Join NYU Silver Alumni to discuss career paths in health and mental health settings. Alumni panelist will discuss key issues and how to successfully manage the demand of this career path. Refreshments will be served.
Working with LGBTQ Populations Tuesday, December 6, 2016 1 Washington Square North, Parlor This month, we invite you to join us as Silver alumni discuss their experiences working with the LGBTQ population. Refreshments will be provided.
Macro and Mezzo Level Practice Wednesday, February 8, 2017 1 Washington Square North, Parlor Hear from Silver alumni who have explored professional social work careers in macro and mezzo settings such as community organizing and non-profit management. Refreshments will be provided.
Private Practice 101 Tuesday, March 7, 2017 1 Washington Square North, Parlor Join NYU Silver Alumni to discuss career paths in private practice. Alumni panelist will discuss key issues and how to successfully manage the demand of this career path. Refreshments will be served.
Working with Clients Who Have Endured Trauma Thursday, April 13, 2017 1 Washington Square North, Parlor Join the discussion with Silver Alumni on the intersection of social work practice and working with clients who have endured trauma. This session will cover various work settings and populations. Refreshments will be provided.

Wasserman @ Silver Workshop Series

NYU Silver Student Affairs and the Wasserman Center for Career Development team up to offer workshops for students about writing effective cover letters and resumes, improving their interviewing strategies, and learning general job hunting tips. Learn how the Wasserman Center to help you get ahead in your career.

Thursday, February 23, 2017 1 Washington Square North, Parlor  This session is all about your job search and how to best go about it, including where and how to look for your social work career. You'll also get tips on how to strategize your time at career fairs. Join us and enjoy some delicious pizza and refreshments!
Interviewing Skills and Negotiating Tuesday, March 28, 2017
1 Washington Square North, Parlor  Learn about important interviewing strategies and how to impress agencies and hiring managers. This session will also cover what to consider before accepting a job offer and strategies on negotiating. Join us for this dynamic workshop and enjoy pizza and refreshments!

NYC Master's Level Social Work Job Fair

This job fair for graduating MSW students is a collaboration of Adelphi University, Columbia University School of Social Work, Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, Hunter School of Social Work, Lehman College, Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus, NYU Silver School of Social Work, SUNY Stony Brook School of Social Welfare, Touro College School of Social Work and Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work.

Individual Career Coaching

Each spring, NYU Silver alumni who are professional career coaches meet individually with students to review job search documents and have personalized discussions about career development strategies. Space for these meetings is very limited - be sure to check your NYU email for information about the next series of individual career coaching sessions.
