Career preparation is an important part of a student’s academic journey at NYU Silver School of Social Work.

One of the many things that makes Silver special is that it has its very own office devoted to career and professional development, specifically for Silver students. The Office of Career & Professional Development at NYU Silver School of Social Work, in partnership with the NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development, strives to prepare the best career-ready social workers in the field by providing personalized, inclusive, and student-centered guidance and partnering with faculty, alumni, and other departments to strategically integrate career competencies into all aspects of the student experience.

We aim to promote continual personal, professional, and community growth by offering comprehensive resources, tools, and programs that we hope will serve as a bridge between students’ academic experiences, identities, and their professional paths; facilitate successful and fulfilling career journeys; and contribute to Silver’s mission to prepare forward-thinking leaders with the readiness to advance the social work profession.

“The Office of Career & Professional Development has been an incredible support to me throughout my journey at Silver! I appreciate that this office is unlike any other career office I have experienced, in that it offers creative and engaging opportunities for students to explore what success in social work means to them. The resources they have created offer clear & tangible ways to go about the job-searching process in a way that makes it less intimidating. The CPD team members are a kind, enthusiastic, innovative, and supportive team who bring their own voices and personalities to the office to make it more inclusive and accessible to students.”

“CPD is one of the best resources that Silver has to offer. Being a career changer, I didn’t even know where to start when developing my professional skills in social work. The services and resources are expansive and fit students’ needs regardless of where they are in their social work journey.”
