Befriending Grief: A Somatic Approach to Moving Through Loss
Overview
Live Online Training
Friday, December 13, 2024
10:00am-1:00pm ET
NYSED and ASWB/ACE approved for 3 CE contact hours
Grief and loss can influence every area of our lives: how we live, connect with others, and make sense of the world. Grieving is a deeply emotional process and can be an uncomfortable conversation for many people in society to talk about. Grief is a part of life, a natural and universal response to loss. Many individuals can recover from a loss. Others become stuck and struggle with processing their emotional experience which can lead to mental and physical health challenges. This training will explore how unresolved grief can keep us stuck in chronic stress states beyond our control, and how to help clients learn to notice, observe, and track emotions of grief to move through loss. During this training, clinicians will gain awareness of the impact of grief on the nervous system, explore the stages of the grief and loss process, and learn practical tools for creating space to acknowledge and express the emotional blockages stored in the body due to grief.
Learning Objectives
As a result of attending this training, students will:
- Identify 3 ways in which grief can manifest in the body.
- Explain the stages of the grief and loss process.
- Learn 3 practical tools for increasing the capacity to experience and regulate grief.
