Building Rapport with Adolescents in a Clinical Setting
Overview
Live Online Workshop
Friday, November 1, 2024
10:00am-1:00pm ET
NYSED and ASWB/ACE approved for 3 CE contact hours
Due to experiences with the systems they exist in, adolescents need opportunities to build and sustain rapport with adult caregivers in their lives. They need the opportunity to navigate previous damaged rapport experiences with caregivers, and build trusting relationships, while at the same time creating sustainable boundaries that work for them in their developmental space. Attend this workshop to learn specific skills and steps to build working relationships with adolescents in a clinical setting, such as schools, clinics, and community-based programs.
Learning Objectives
As a result of attending this workshop, students will learn:
- Understanding the nonverbal approach to engage disengaged teens.
- Integrating practical approaches to maintain and retain teens in intervention.
- Effective communication strategies to navigate and acknowledge previous damaged rapport.
