Presenters
Stella Koltunov, LCSW
Stella Koltunov is a licensed clinical social worker, and is currently employed as a staff clinician, clinical supervisor, and intern program coordinator at New York Behavioral Health. She received her master’s degree from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work in 2011 and has been practicing psychotherapy in the community ever since. She provides individual, couples, and family therapy to people of various ages and cultural backgrounds. She has experience working with survivors of interpersonal trauma and utilizes techniques to administer trauma-informed care.
Stella was an intern at Bellevue Hospital Center’s Crime Victims Program and at the Domestic Violence Project under Urban Justice Center. She then worked as a staff clinician at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services and at The Institute for Family Health. Stella has extensive experience working with those impacted by crisis and uses evidence-based strategies to de-escalate the immediate state of crisis and allow her clients to move through the crisis to facilitate relief and growth.
Douglas Tiburcio, LMSW
Douglas Tiburcio is a licensed social worker currently employed as a senior social worker at the Brooklyn Justice Initiative. A graduate of NYU’s Silver School of Social Work MSW program in 2011, Douglas’s experience started in healthcare as an intern for the American Cancer Society where he worked as a patient navigator in Hackensack University Medical Center. After that he gained experience in forensic social work as an intern at the Bergen County Jail. Since then, Douglas has engaged and been interested in both clinical and mezzo level social work in community and healthcare spaces. As a clinician for Jewish Family and Children's Services of North New Jersey, Douglas practiced psychotherapy with children and adults.
Douglas also has experience with supervision, program evaluation, quality assurance and end of life care gained during his time as Director of Social Services for the Maywood Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Douglas has a varied experience with crisis intervention in numerous contexts and settings and feels that crisis intervention is a universal skill useful for social workers utilizing evidenced based models and best practices.
