Overview
Live Online Seminar
Thursday, September 21, 2023
9:30am-12:30pm ET
NYSED and ASWB/ACE approved for 3 CE contact hours
Supporting social skills is an area of need accross ages and clinical presentations. This seminar will include an overview of common social challenges, review ways to conceptualize underlying challenges related to social skills, evidence based strategies for supporting social skill development and specific examples of manualized interventions, primarily drawing from the UCLA PEERS® program. Although much of the literature on social skills are related to autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and thus this presentation will include several examples related to ASD, the instructor will also discuss considerations for supporting social skills in other clinical populations. This seminar will also review resources for clinicians as well as community resources. Finally, the group will have the opportunity for questions and example case discussion. This seminar will include both strategies for individual work as well as considerations for group work.
