Assessment and Treatment of Tics and Tourette's Disorder
Overview
Live Online Seminar
Thursday, February 24, 2022
9:30am-12:30pm ET
NYSED and ASWB/ACE approved for 3 CE contact hours
The presence of verbal or physical tics is known to interfere with social, emotional, and academic functioning. Given the difficulties across the social and academic domains faced by youth with tic disorders, proper identification and treatment are crucial for helping these youth and their families address their symptoms and enjoy a better quality of life. Join us to learn the clinical features of Tic Disorders, assessment considerations for tic disorders, and the basics of evidence-based interventions for tics. Additionally, participants will learn about psychopharmacological interventions for tics, as well as augmenting evidence-based interventions such as comprehensive behavioral interventions for tics (CBIT) with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Although mostly focused on youth with tic disorders, much of the educational content is applicable to adults with tics as well, and therefore also relevant to practitioners working primarily with adults.
Learning Objectives
As a result of attending this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Identify the four different categories of tics.
- Identify at least two instruments for assessment of tics/TD.
- Identify and describe the two main parts of habit reveral training.
