This talk will provide strategies for interpreting research and applying it to everyday clinical practice. It will highlight issues with the reporting of research in media and popular culture, and provide strategies for navigating the increasing information content we and our clients are exposed to. Attendees should expect to learn strategies for discussing research with clients so as to enhance collaborative decision-making in client-centered care. It will ground theoretical concepts on research interpretation and discussion in clinical examples.
Learning Objectives
As a result of attending this webinar, participants will:
- Increase understanding of different forms of bias present in research processes and dissemination
- Learn strategies for identifying biases and interpreting research studies
- Learn strategies for discussing research with patients to inform clinical decision-making
Presenters
Christopher La Lima, PhD
Licensed psychologist; Clinical assistant professor, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone
Christopher La Lima, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and a clinical assistant professor at the NYU Child Study Center, in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone. He completed his internship at Columbia University Medical Center, and his postdoctoral fellowship at the NYU Child Study Center. He specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with ADHD, executive functioning issues, disruptive behavior disorders, anxiety disorders, and tic disorders. He incorporates strategies from multiple evidence-based modalities, primarily cognitive behavioral therapy, organizational skills training, and dialectical behavior therapy. Dr. La Lima has an interest in increasing access to care via technology, and has served on multiple research studies in this regard.

- Refund requests made on or before September 9, 2022 (by midnight): 50% refund
- Refund requests made on or after September 12, 2022: no refund
