This workshop focuses on supporting women’s wellness through an integrative approach to care. Emphasis on unique issues women experience at different life phases and how those issues impact on women’s health will be discussed. Tangible tools will be provided about how to use an integrative approach to support women’s mental, physical, and spiritual health, including assessment of women’s physical and spiritual functioning.
Learning Objectives
As a result of attending this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Identify at least one (1) mental health disorder that women are commonly diagnosed with and the reason why.
- Explain at least one (1) way in which role strain, hormonal changes, traumatic experiences, and relationship challenges impact on women’s overall wellness.
- Identify at least two (2) ways each that an imbalance in wellness affects women mentally, physically, and spiritually.
- Identify at least one (1) intervention clinicians can use in domains of mental, physical, and spiritual health to improve women’s wellness.
- Identify at least one (1) assessment tool that can be used to better understand women’s physical or spiritual level of wellness.
- Identify two (2) physical health recommendations of what women can do on their own to improve their overall wellness.
Presenter
Fazeeda Abdur-Rahman, PhD, LCSW
Dr. Fazeeda Abdur-Rahman is a graduate of Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services, with a doctorate degree in social work, concentration in mental health. She is an alumnus of Howard University where she earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and York College, where she earned her Bachelor of Psychology (BA) degree. She is a licensed social worker in New York State and her area of expertise is women’s wellness, particularly utilizing complementary alternative treatments of yoga and Christian based spirituality with conventional psychotherapy.
Dr. Rahman's professional work experience includes providing clinical services to clients in faith based and secular organizations, program development assistance to faith-based organizations, clinical and administrative supervision of social service and clinical staff, mental health presentations to the public, and teaching psychology and social work courses to bachelor and master level students. Her research background includes compiling literature reviews for researchers, while her own research has examined various factors associated with domestic violence, including theories explaining abuse, domestic violence laws, spirituality, yoga, and innovation adoption in social work organizations.
Dr. Rahman is the founder and owner of Vibrant Women Wellness Counseling (VWWC), a Christian based mental health company focused on supporting women, where she oversees the clinical work of VWWC and is also a practicing therapist. Dr. Rahman is passionate about helping women to overcome trauma and other negative life events so that they experience fullness and joy in their lives. In addition to supporting clients at VWWC, Dr. Rahman supports organizations interested to create and sustain programs focused on women's wellness: mentally, physically, and spiritually. She also works to educate upcoming social work professionals in her role as Contributing Faculty Member in the MSW program at Walden University.

Cancellations and Refunds
If after registering, you determine that you can no longer attend this event, The Office of Global and Lifelong Learning will issue refunds on the following basis:
- Refund requests made on or before June 10, 2022 (by midnight): full refund
- Refund requests made on or before June 15, 2022 (by midnight): 50% refund
- Refund requests made on or after June 16, 2022: no refund
