The Silver Community - Where Relationships Matter
Relationships and human connection bring social work to life. At NYU Silver, the professors and advisors work to create a community in which every person matters. Silver is a community of diverse identities, cultures, and viewpoints. You will be challenged, supported, and encouraged to explore your interests, and be given the freedom and the space to foster a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
At Silver, will you make friends for life from all over the world who will inspire you, and study with faculty and instructors who will guide and mentor you, all in the heart of New York City. There’s no better place to be.
“The most impactful part of my time at Silver has been, far and away, the people.
The faculty act as experienced mentors, showing us how to care deeply and channel our passion. My peers are fervently and unwaveringly committeed to social justice. Silver is a group of people leading by example.”

Diversity and Collective Wisdom
Silver students are global citizens, and there is no single ethnic majority.
“Silver is such a beautiful school community, and everyone is so friendly and encouraging.
Because the classes are small you really get to know your classmates and professors and everyone knows each other's names. Even if you're the kind of person who doesn't always speak up, the classes are intimate and make you feel included. I love this school - it feels really good to be here."
Hawa Kebbeh, Class of 2021
Get Involved! Learning Beyond the Classroom
Silver students get involved and create change. You can participate in Silver’s Undergraduate Student Government Association and help shape the Silver experience for you and your peers, or join one of the many groups started by Silver students. Don’t see one that matches your interest? START YOUR OWN.
When you join the Silver community, you also become part of the larger NYU community, and at NYU, there’s always something happening. You can take your pick from more than 300 student-run clubs and organizations across the University. The Center for Student Life helps students discover their purpose at NYU and beyond by providing events and activities to help you maximize your college experience.
Academic Advising - Making the Most of Your Experience
There is no one way, or “right way” - it’s YOUR way. Academic Advisors know that it can be a bit overwhelming to decide on minors and courses with so many amazing choices. Academic Advisors are just one of the resources that can help you make the most of your experience at Silver. Your advisor will strategize with you as you align your interests with your goals to create a meaningful course of study.
