Child, Youth, and Family Services Practice Area
Examples of practice settings include early childhood programs, child welfare, youth development, community organizations, school-based programs, residential and mental health programs, and mentoring. The social work intern may use various methods of treatment, such as individual, group, family, or community therapy, serving children and youth (birth to 20’s) and their families. Learning opportunities include: crisis intervention, short and long-term therapeutic interventions, family systems, attachment theory, psychosocial support, home-based work and mentoring models.
