Macro Social Work Practice Area

Macro settings include government organizations, universities and research institutions, and nonprofit and volunteer organizations. Students who pursue macro work have the opportunity to gain experience in social work research, program development for small and large community organizations, program evaluation, policy analysis and advocacy, and nonprofit administration and leadership. Students will learn the skills of exploring large scale social problems and developing and implementing social interventions at community and national levels. Learning opportunities include evidence based practice, short-term treatment, crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
