School-Based Services Practice Area
Examples of practice settings include elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as colleges and universities. Additionally, a community-based organization or medical center may sponsor a school-based program. Social work students will have the opportunity to practice with individuals, families, groups, and communities, and offer support at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. They will have the task of identifying, addressing, and treating the social, emotional, and environmental problems that interfere with the learning process, including the issues faced by the new immigrant students and issues related to poverty, trauma, and learning gaps.
