Scholarships

The Silver School allocates a large portion of its budget to scholarship assistance, which benefits more than 90 percent of eligible students. This commitment of funds permits a wide range of students to pursue professional training at the School and creates a student body with a mix of backgrounds that enriches the learning environment and personal experiences of all.

NYU Silver Tuition Scholarships

Automatic consideration is given to all accepted students for our merit-based tuition scholarships, provided that you click “yes” on the scholarship question in the admissions application. The Silver School has set aside funding for applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups in the field of social work. Due to the high caliber of the students we accept, more than 90% receive some amount of tuition scholarship funding.

For MSW students pursuing full-time pathways (Two-Year, 16-Month, and Advanced Standing), awards range from $7,000–15,000 per academic year and are based primarily on the strength of their application. Enrollment in Field learning and Social Work Practice are required to receive the scholarship.

Students pursuing our Extended and Extended One-Year Residence pathways receive a $2,000 award when they are first enrolled in classes; the award increases to $6,000 when they are enrolled in both classes and Field learning. Students in our 32-Month pathway receive a 25% discount each semester they are enrolled.

As noted above, a separate application is not required for this scholarship. You will be notified in your admissions acceptance letter if you have been offered an NYU Silver Tuition Scholarship.

Non-Matriculating students are ineligible for NYU Silver Tuition Scholarships; however, those who work full-time at a qualifying social work agency may apply for a Silver Discounted Tuition Reimbursement.

School Based Named Scholarships

NYU Silver, in conjunction with a network of alumni and organizations close to the university, has created various opportunities to help fund our MSW students' education. Financial awards are provided on a competitive basis in an attempt to enrich the increasingly diverse educational atmosphere at the Silver School.
