Advanced Clinical Seminars in Grief and Trauma

This clinical seminar series addresses the intersection of grief and trauma, two deeply impactful responses to life changes often studied separately. Our program aims to bridge this gap and enhance clinicians’ expertise in working with both. The series offers specialized CEU seminars led by experienced clinicians, thought leaders, and experts on a range of topics, including the effects of trauma history on acute loss, loss as transformative in trauma, the effects of grief and trauma on sexuality, and distinguishing complex trauma, grief, depression, and demoralization. Participants will learn from certified sex therapists, renowned trauma experts, academic professionals, and experienced grief therapists.
These seminars are aimed at mid- to experienced-level clinicians who work in-depth with grief and trauma, both short- and long-term, and cover a broad spectrum of losses and traumas—not just those related to healthcare or death.
In 2025, six two-hour seminars will be offered, both live and recorded for CEUs, with more planned for 2026. Participants can purchase individual seminars as they become available. The full series will also be available for purchase at a bundled price once all recordings are released in late Fall 2025.
The Intersection of Grief and Trauma: Attachment, Crisis and Integration
With Abigail Nathanson, LCSW, DSW, APHSW-C, ACS
This first seminar explores the deep connection between grief and trauma—both responses to life-altering changes that shape how we process emotions and seek safety. While often confused with depression, anxiety, or each other, understanding their differences is key to effective clinical care.
