Biography
Dr. Sophia Tsesmelis Piccolino is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Zelda Foster Studies Program in Palliative and End-of-Life Care at NYU Silver. She is a clinical social worker, board certified in oncology social work, specializing in working with individuals and families in the areas of cancer, palliative and end-of-life care (PELC), trauma, grief and loss. Her research interests include program leadership, clinical supervision, clinician impact of care and resiliency.
Dr. Tsesmelis Piccolino has been a leader in clinical social work within healthcare, supervising social workers and overseeing Psycho-Oncology programming at a New York City hospital. In addition to her roles at NYU Silver, she has a private practice specializing in chronic and life altering illness, cancer care, grief and loss. She also supervises and mentors social workers in the field of oncology and PELC, holds leadership roles in the field of oncology and loss, and facilitates support groups with community organizations.
Dr. Tsesmelis Piccolino earned her BA in Psychology and Hellenic Studies at NYU, and her MSW and DSW from NYU Silver.
