Moving Forward Fund
About the Fund
Building on an idea proposed by Shamire Juste, MSW ’19, the Silver Moving Forward Fund was created in Spring 2020 to provide small grants up to $300 to BS and MSW graduates who are struggling with many of the additional costs associated with graduation and accessing critical credentialing.
Thanks to your generosity, in academic year 2021-22 NYU Silver has once again provided financial support to every graduating student who applied for aid tied to graduation regalia and post-graduate requirements for social workers.
By the Numbers: 2021-22
Financial support from the Moving Forward Fund covers:
- Academic Attire
- Licensing Exam Fees & Applications
- Other (Graduate School Applications, Optional Practice Training)
Student Impact
“With the Moving Forward Fund, I was able to pay for my licensing exam and ultimately obtain my LMSW, and I cannot express how grateful I am that I was selected. While the funds might seem small, the impact it has for students who are in need, is tremendous. Funds such as these allow students to have an opportunity to participate in college activities without the stress of financing it.”
Denise Singh, MSW ’20
“As a proud recipient of the Moving Forward Fund, I’m so grateful for the financial support. By relieving me of the licensing fees, I’m able to strive towards earning a credential that is highly regarded in the social work field, thus opening the door to more opportunities in the future.”
Sergio Torres, MSW ’21
