Associate Professor Michael Lindsey Featured in an Episode of Big Thinkers on Mental Health

NYU Silver Associate Professor Michael Lindsey was recently interviewed as part of Big Thinkers on Mental Health, a new series co-produced by The Mental Health Channel and BigThink.com. Big Thinkers on Mental Health illuminates the most important issues in mental health through insight from the world’s leading experts, including Dr. Thomas Insel of NIMH, Elyn Saks, JD, of USC Gould School of Law, Mary Giliberti of NAMI, and more.

During the interview, Lindsey discusses factors that contribute to debilitating trauma throughout black America, such as the unfair stigmatization of mental illness and the cultural definitions of strength and courage. How one reacts to these ills, coupled with the community's response to said reaction, adds a level of tension that other Americans don't necessarily face.
