The NYU Silver School of Social Work will celebrate its outstanding students at the 7th Annual Student Awards on Wednesday, April 29, at the Kimmel Center for University Life. These students have excelled in academics, practice, and their extracurricular pursuits. They truly embody the spirit and passion of the Silver School.

Dean's Award for Innovation in Social Work Practice
Christopher “Rocky” Pack, BS ’15, for his innovation and creativity in integrating technology and social work to provide useful data to clients through his original application Resource Map.
Kristen Verge, MSW ’15, for the interdisciplinary program she implemented to help social workers educate clients on oral health and available dental benefits.
Diane Greenstein Memorial Fellowship
Andrea Cole, PhD candidate, for her exemplary dissertation proposal, “A Mixed Method Analysis of the Impact of Community Violence on Young Adult Development and Mental Health.”
Excellence in Leadership Award
Elizabeth Chon, MSW ’15, for her leadership and innovation in the programming she spearheaded as the president of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society’s Pi Pi Chapter, as well as many NYU Silver student groups, including the Student Leadership Council.
Anahi Galante, MSW ’15, for her commitment to leadership and promoting diversity at the NYU Silver School of Social Work.
Amanda Mays, MSW ’15, for being a champion of the NYU Silver community and vulnerable populations in and around New York City.
Nicole McCullough, MSW ’15, for her role as a vocal leader both in and out of the classroom, her dedication to helping her peers, and her work towards creating a better academic and social environment for the NYU Silver community.
Jacqueline Wait, BS ’15, for her passion for social justice issues and her leadership in creating and executing initiatives to help provide equal access to higher education opportunities.
Global Social Work Award
Brittany Armstrong, MSW ’15, for her dedication to and passion for exploring issues important to the global context through her work in the community and through multiple NYU Silver student groups, including the Student Collective for Global Social Work.
Outstanding POPS Project Award
Matthew Houston, MSW ’16, for thinking differently about using technology to help clients receive better mental health services via his POPS project, “Utilizing Apps: Wellness Tracking in a Community Mental Health Center.”
Outstanding Student Program Award
Phi Alpha’s “Outside the Wire” for bringing awareness to creative, community-based interventions. It has sparked ideas for interdisciplinary partnerships among artists, clinicians, community leaders, and individual community members.
Robert Moore Award for Excellence in Scholarship
So-Young Park, PhD ’14, for her outstanding defended dissertation, "Depression and Suicide Ideation among Asian American Youth: A Twelve-Year Longitudinal Analysis," that demonstrated high standards of scholarship.
Silver Citizenship Award
Tamara Levin, BS ’16, for the leadership she demonstrates in classroom discussions and co-curricular activities, including involvement with the Rape Abuse & Incest National Network Hotline and the Denim Day committee to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Lauren May, MSW ’15, for her commitment to help the homeless and her unwavering advocacy for services and opportunities within these communities.
Mi “Emma” Zhou, MSW ’15, for using her language skills and cultural competency to educate elderly Chinese patients and families on palliative and end-of-life care, help them navigate health care systems, and better understand concepts that are new for this population.
Silver Spirit Award
David Kwon, BS ’10, MSW ’15, for his very active involvement in the NYU Silver community and his leadership in creating opportunities for involvement in the community for current and future students.
Margaret Woods, MSW ’15, for her unparalleled enthusiasm for and commitment to the NYU Silver School of Social Work as a student leader and champion of the vibrant Silver School Facebook page.
Social Justice Award
Carlette Quinto, MSW ’15, for her leadership in creating awareness and encouraging action to anti-racist perspectives in all areas of the social work experience.
Steven Pokorski, MSW ’15, for his work to influence and guide policy regarding the rights of the severely mentally ill and underserved populations.
