Dr. Jeane Anastas Appointed Oxford University Press' U.S. Delegate for Social Work

Oxford University Press Inc. (OUP) has appointed NYU Silver School of Social Work Professor Jeane Anastas to a five-year term as U.S. Delegate for Social Work effective May 15, 2017. OUP’s U.S. Delegates are renowned scholars in various disciplines who oversee the press’ U.S. publishing in their subject area. Dr. Anastas’ responsibilities in the position involve approving OUP’s social work publications, including academic monographs, college textbooks, trade, and reference works, and helping its editors to develop a publishing strategy for the discipline.
Dr. Anastas is a widely published authority in social work education, practice, and research who has more than 30 years of experience as an educator and organizational leader in the field. A past president of the National Association of Social Workers, in 2015, she was named a Social Work Pioneer© by the association in recognition of her years of leadership in the profession. Among her many other honors and awards are the CSWE Women’s Council’s 2012 Feminist Scholar Award; New York University’s 2011 Distinguished Teaching Medal; and the Council on Social Work Education’s 2007 award for Greatest Recent Contribution to Social Work Education.
