Richeleen Dashield Named NYU Silver’s Inaugural Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Richeleen Dashield has joined NYU Silver as the School's inaugural Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). In her new position, Dashield is responsible for providing administrative leadership to advance NYU Silver's DEI initiatives, working closely with a variety of partners to promote a diverse and inclusive School.
Dashield most recently served for nine years as Dean for Multicultural Affairs at Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey, and was Director of Social Equity at West Chester University in Pennsylvania from 2004 to 2010. She also held leadership positions at Kean University, has an MBA in Human Resources from Rutgers, and is presently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Educational Services and Leadership at Rowan University, where she is working on her dissertation examining diversity accountability in higher education. Dashield has received many awards and recognitions for her leadership on diversity and equity in higher education and has delivered numerous presentations on these topics locally and globally.
NYU Silver Dean Neil B. Guterman said, "In a search process that involved faculty, staff, students, and alumni, Richeleen impressed all constituencies with her outstanding combination of deep expertise, values, and skills as a DEI leader in higher education. We are pleased to welcome her to our community and collaborate with her in this important work."
As part of its ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse School, NYU Silver is continuing to recruit for an Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, a faculty leader who will complement Dashield's leadership, providing strategic partnership to advance DEI activities.
