Biography

Juhi Malhotra is a Clinical Instructor at NYU Silver, and has more than fifteen years of clinical experience. During her tenure at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, she held increasingly responsible positions as a Psychiatric Social Work Supervisor in the Mobile Crisis Unit and the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, and in 2015, Professor Malhotra became Associate Director of Social Work in psychiatry. In the latter position, she was primarily responsible for the clinical and administrative oversight of the Assertive Community Treatment Program, and clinical supervision of inpatient caseworkers. She has extensive experience in community psychiatry with a clinical focus on crisis intervention, diagnostic assessments, short term and long term care within a multidisciplinary approach. Prior to her supervisory positions at the hospital, she worked in ambulatory behavioral health and conducted cognitive-behavioral therapy and co-facilitated groups for mentally ill adults.

In addition to teaching in NYU Silver’s MSW program, Professor Malhotra is a faculty advisor and teaches the Seminar in Field Instruction to prepare new field instructors to meet the educational responsibilities of the role.

Before joining the faculty at NYU Silver, Professor Malhotra was an academic and field advisor at Columbia University School of Social Work. In this position she was the mentor and point person for all academics and field education for final year students. Additionally, she taught advising seminars with a concentration on anti-oppression, self-awareness, and career preparation. She earned her MSW from NYU and her BA from George Washington University.
