We have compiled a list of organizations that provide monetary support for students pursuing graduate education. Please note that the Silver School does not have a relationship with or endorse these organizations; rather, we reference them as an option for you to apply for funding.

Dalai Lama Fellowship
New York University is one of ten universities to offer the Dalai Lama Fellowship, a global program authorized by the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. One fellow will be chosen from each university to receive up to $10,000 toward a year-long project of his or her design in one of four focus areas: 1) working across differences; 2) diminishing violence; 3) alleviating poverty; and 4) protecting the environment. All undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who will be enrolled full-time at NYU are invited to apply.

General Board of Higher Education & Ministry
Applicants must be an active, full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Membership is determined by the date the applicant was confirmed and took membership vows with a United Methodist church. Applicants must be pursuing a degree program at any accredited institution within the US. The MMMF grants approximately $12,000 to be used toward the completion of the student’s degree. Grants are not renewable.

National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, Inc.
Applicants must be working or planning to work directly with children and pursuing graduate level studies for one year in fields that address the special needs of children and youth. Graduate fields of study include, but are not limited to: Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health, Special Education, Speech Pathology, Exceptional Children, Remedial Skills Development, Hearing Impaired, Gifted and Talented, etc. Scholarships are not awarded for graduate work in administration or general education. Applicants must also be a US citizen and a permanent resident of a state with a Junior Auxiliary Chapter: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas.

Offering a one-time $1,000 annual Social Work Scholarship to be used for textbooks or fees (non-tuition educational expenses). NCJW, Brooklyn Section, Inc. is a non-gender, non- denominational organization devoted to improving the quality of life for women, children, and families. Available to Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. For the purposes of the NIAF Scholarship Program, to be “Italian American” the student must have at least one ancestor who has immigrated from Italy. Scholarship awards range from $2,000–$12,000. Applicants must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 (or the equivalent).

Navajo National Graduate Fellowship
Provides financial assistance to eligible Navajo students attending graduate school. For full-time graduate students, the award shall be a minimum of $5,000 up to a maximum of $10,000 for nine to twelve semester credit hours.

New York City Alumnae Panhellenic Collegiate Scholarship
Scholarship to Greek women who are members of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) member fraternities and are attending or will attend a graduate program within a 50-mile radius of Columbus Circle in New York City.

New York State Memorial Scholarship
Provides financial aid to children, spouses, and financial dependents of deceased firefighters, volunteer firefighters, police officers, peace officers (including NYS Correction Officers), and emergency medical service workers who have died as a result of injuries sustained in the line of duty in service to New York State.

New York State Society for Clinical Social Work (NYSSCSW)
Each year, the chapter confers a $500 scholarship and a one-year NYSSCSW membership on one student each from the Silver School and six other New York City schools of social work in recognition of outstanding clinically oriented writing done in their first year of the MSW program.

The Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) Committee of the New York City Chapter of the NASW offers two scholarships for politically minded social work students. The David Roth Scholarship is for first year students, the Miriam Dinerman is for second year students, and both are at the graduate level. The amount of each scholarship is $500. Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of two years and must be used toward tuition or related educational expenses. Scholarships are for students committed to a career at the UJA Federation of New York or a career in the broader Jewish communal sector.

NYU participates in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, a provision of the post–9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. Yellow Ribbon is a scholarship designed to help students supplement their Post–9/11 GI Bill tuition benefits. NYU’s program covers both full-time and part-time students. Students at NYU Silver may be awarded scholarship in addition to their tuition benefits.

The Silver School is proud to offer our veterans an award up to $10,000 from the Yellow Ribbon Program, with a match of up to $10,000 from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, if eligible. Students receiving Yellow Ribbon funds are still eligible for separate NYU Silver Tuition Scholarships. Email silver.admissions@nyu.edu for the application fee waiver code.
