NYU Silver is pleased to announce the return of the Social Justice and Diversity Grant Challenge for the 2018-2019 academic year! The Grant Challenge is an exciting initiative designed to strengthen the school’s diversity and social justice offerings. The purpose of the grant is to support and promote collaboration in the creation and facilitation of activities by Silver students, staff, and/or faculty interested in exploring social justice and diversity. The goals of the grant are to support and encourage the creation and facilitation of events that lead to the awareness of diverse populations, encourage a commitment to cultural humility, social diversity and inclusion, and facilitate the review of personal values and beliefs that may influence decision-making Promote self awareness to eliminate biases in professional practice.

The activities may be inclusive of, but not limited to: schoolwide programs, dialogue events, workshops and/or trainings, and focused on creating partnerships, raising awareness, and dispensing knowledge. With our education, training, and commitment to the ethics, values and principles established by the profession, social workers are most inclined to be at the forefront of leadership for social justice and diversity initiatives. By participating in the NYU Silver Social Justice and Diversity Grant Challenge, you have the opportunity to design and implement programs that address a diverse set of the most pressing local, national, and international social justice issues within our country and throughout the world.

There is no pre-established limit for the amount of proposals to be accepted. The committee will seek to select the highest number of promising proposals, dependent on the quality of applications. Those selected will receive grant funds to be utilized for the execution and facilitation of their events in February, March and April of 2019.
